Arab American Resource Corps (AmeriCorps)

Established in 2003, the Arab American Resource Corps (ARC) is the first and only national AmeriCorps program serving Arab American organizations.  There are currently 75 ARC members serving in six states—including Michigan, California, Illinois, New York, Ohio, and Texas—as well as Washington D.C.

ARC members engage in three categories of service: social services, youth development and education, and cultural outreach.  In 2010, members provided services to over 52,000 individuals across the nation.

Whenever I start to worry about the general discourse towards Arab Americans in this country, I always think about the Arab American Resource Corps and immediately feel better. It’s a stunning example of how the government – and a small team of committed volunteers can really demonstrate their care and concern for the Arab American community. My service as an AmeriCorps volunteer has been an incredible experience, both for the satisfaction of giving something back to my community, and also for the pride I feel in serving my country“. ~ARC Member serving in Washington, D.C.

As an AmeriCorps member I am able to educate, inform and help the community, so they can improve their quality of life… ARC is such a great program and I am really proud to be a part of it”.  ~ARC Member serving in California
