Nadia Tonova, NNAAC Director

Nadia Tonova serves as the NNAAC Director.  In this capacity, she oversees all aspects of programming within NNAAC, including Advocacy & Civic Engagement, Organizational Development, and the   Arab American Resources Corps, a national AmeriCorps program.  She also oversees NNAAC governance and member relations.

Prior to serving in this position, Ms. Tonova led the Advocacy & Civic Engagement program with NNAAC for four years.  She led a variety of policy initiatives, campaigns, and activities pertaining to immigrant rights, civil liberties and human rights, and civic engagement.  She also offers technical assistance to organizations across the country in these areas.

Ms. Tonova currently represents NNAAC and ACCESS on the Rights Working Group Steering Committee, the New Detroit Immigration Task Group, and the Alliance for Immigrants Rights and Reform-Michigan Advisory Board.  She is also a member of the Leadership Detroit class of XXXIII.

Before coming to ACCESS, she worked with the Democratic Communications Office for the Michigan House of Representatives.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Theory from Michigan State University and her Master’s degree in Near Eastern Studies from Wayne State University.
